Growing up Filipino-American in San Diego, food was everything. Adobo simmering on Sundays. Sinigang for every family gathering. My lola's sisig that she refused to write down because "you just know." Food was love, culture, and identity — all on one plate.
Then I got serious about fitness. And every coach, every program, every meal plan told me the same thing: ditch the rice. Stop eating that. Replace your mom's cooking with grilled chicken and broccoli. I listened. I lost weight. And I lost something bigger — my connection to the food that raised me.
I became the first person in my family to graduate college — B.S. in Business Psychology from UC San Diego. Then I went back for more, earning my Master of Science in Kinesiology with a Sport Performance concentration from Point Loma Nazarene University. Not because I needed another degree. Because I needed to understand the science well enough to solve the problem nobody was solving.

Christian holds an M.S. in Sport Performance and 10+ years coaching in-person. He runs 1:1 sessions out of two San Diego training homes — SMTF Point Loma and SMTF Del Mar — and pulls clients from across California. If you live in Point Loma, Del Mar, La Jolla, or Carmel Valley, you can train under him face-to-face. Online clients get the same programming, just remote.
